Have you ever heard about the paradox of choice?

It's the idea that, when faced with a bounty of choices, humans tend to take approximately an eternity to decide—and sometimes we'll just forego making a decision altogether. It's what happens when you visit a diner with a 25-page menu and plead with the waiter, I don't know. I can't choose! You decide.

As a world-renowned indecisiveness champion, I know the paradox well. Catch me in a grocery store and you'll most likely find me wandering the aisles, inspecting the nutritional information for a variety of peanut butters, googling prices online to see if it's cheaper just to buy in bulk.

In other words, I'm pretty great at not making decisions—even small grocery store purchases. I think it over, and rethink, and obsess over what the "best" and most perfect choice might be. And the more choices I have before me—the more peanut butter jars lining the aisles—the worse my decision-making skills become.

Are you struggling to make decisions today?

If you're someone like me, facing any decision—small or large—can feel like attempting to vault over Mt. Everest with a toothpick. But why? For me, it comes out of a desire to control my surroundings and get the best. It also stems from a gnawing worry that I'm going to fail, that I'm somehow doing it all wrong.

Have you ever felt this way?

When I'm overwhelmed by choices, I try to dwell on what God's Word tells me about my decisions. The Bible is filled with people who make good and bad choices, but God promises to guide us if we seek his help.

Here are 5 verses to help you rely on God's wisdom as you face both tiny and big decisions. I pray they help you as much as they've helped me.

Psalm 32:8 (GNTD)

The Lord says, "I will teach you the way you should go; I will instruct you and advise you."

Psalm 25:12 (GNTD)

Those who have reverence for the Lord will learn from him the path they should follow.

Philippians 4:6 (GNTD)

Don't worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart.

Proverbs 16:9 (GNTD)

You may make your plans, but God directs your actions.

1 Corinthians 10:31 (GNTD)

Well, whatever you do, whether you eat or drink, do it all for God's glory.
