Today, Son of God will be at a movie theater near you. Thanks to 20th Century Fox and producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, Son of God brings the life of Jesus Christ to the big screen like never before.

Told with the scope and scale of an action epic, the film features powerful performances, striking locales, special effects and a rich orchestral score from Oscar®-winner Hans Zimmer.

Portuguese actor Diogo Morgado portrays Jesus as the film spans his humble birth, his teachings, his crucifixion and his resurrection. The movie is the first major motion picture about Jesus’ life since the Passion of the Christ released 10 years ago.

Faith leaders from around the country have previewed the film and are heartedly endorsing it.

Son of God … gives us the opportunity to realize God's presence in our own lives, and that we are children of God,” says Archbishop Jose Gomez from the diocese of Los Angeles. “The film is extraordinary for my ministry."

Son of God brings to the big screen the story of Jesus,” says Rick Warren, senior Pastor of Saddleback Church and author of the No. 1 New York Times bestselling book, A Purpose Driven Life. “Here we see the wonder of his birth, the power of his mission, the loving sacrifice of his death, but most importantly, we see the eternal hope of his resurrection.”

Help share the message about this powerful film. Here are five ways to spread the word:

  1. Email everyone you know about the film.
  2. Host a movie event through a private screening.
  3. Buy group tickets. (A religious organization in my church bought 1,000 tickets and encouraged us to see the movie together as a church family.)
  4. Share your views about the film on social media, including Facebook and Twitter.
  5. Share reviews of the film.

Seeing the film can be a great way to deepen your relationship with Christ. After watching it, read the Gospel narratives to reinforce what you saw in the movie and discuss your thoughts with family and friends. (If you need conversation starters, check out the Son of God movie discussion guide.) When you do, you’ll experience the power of the Scriptures to further open your minds and hearts to Jesus Christ.
