Sometimes I feel like a gerbil, darting left and right, trying to find an escape from my cage. I don't really have a direction. I don't really have a purpose. And I don't really know what to do next. I feel lost.
Can you relate? Maybe, after working the same job with the same co-workers for more than a decade, your company decides to eliminate your position. Without notice, you find yourself searching job sites for something, anything, that could provide a steady income. You can’t seem to find your direction.
Or maybe, after dating the same person for years, you decide to end the relationship. Heartbroken, you think you about your future, wondering if you'll ever find a spouse. You don't know what to do next.
In these moments, when I feel trapped in the valleys of life, I often try to escape on my own. I attempt to make the right decisions—but without God, I flounder. If you're longing for direction, searching for purpose or wondering what to do next, I invite you to join me in relying on God for wisdom, peace and hope.
These four Psalms will get you started.
- Psalm 31:3 (GNTD)
You are my refuge and defense; guide me and lead me as you have promised. - Psalm 61:1-3 (GNTD)
Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer! In despair and far from home I call to you! Take me to a safe refuge, for you are my protector, my strong defense against my enemies. - Psalm 119:105 (GNTD)
Your word is a lamp to guide me and a light for my path. - Psalm 143:8 (GNTD)
Remind me each morning of your constant love, for I put my trust in you. My prayers go up to you; show me the way I should go.
