Have you ever endured “one of those weeks”?

The type of week when your heater breaks, your fridge goes crazy, you have a big fight with a close friend, an electric panel in your house is deemed a hazard, UPS loses your package and your newborn baby won’t stop crying? The type of week when you feel like hiding from everyone and everything?

That was my week. But even in the midst of my frustration—when I felt so helpless, so tired and so poor—I found hope.

When I put my hope in a relationship or money or a new home or an amazing child, I will ultimately be let down.

When I put my hope in a relationship or money or a new home or an amazing child, I will ultimately be let down. But when my hope lies in Jesus, I can get through these weeks. I can see the bigger picture. And I can see what truly matters.

I had one of the worst weeks I can remember. But when I fixed my eyes on Christ, I began to see things more clearly. I found peace. I had hope.

I had one of the worst weeks I can remember. But when I fixed my eyes on Christ, I began to see things more clearly.

If you’re currently wading through “one of those weeks,” turn to God’s Word for comfort.

These six Bible verses will get you started:

  1. John 16:33 (GNTD)
I have told you this so that you will have peace by being united to me. The world will make you suffer. But be brave! I have defeated the world!
  2. John 14:29 (GNTD)
Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid.
  3. Romans 15:13 (GNTD)
May God, the source of hope, fill you with all joy and peace by means of your faith in him, so that your hope will continue to grow by the power of the Holy Spirit.
  4. Isaiah 41:10 (GNTD)
Do not be afraid—I am with you! I am your God—let nothing terrify you! I will make you strong and help you; I will protect you and save you.
  5. 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 (GNTD)
We are often troubled, but not crushed; sometimes in doubt, but never in despair;  there are many enemies, but we are never without a friend; and though badly hurt at times, we are not destroyed.
  6. Psalm 55:22 (GNTD)
Leave your troubles with the LORD, and he will defend you; he never lets honest people be defeated.

Here’s to a better week.
