Sometimes Wednesdays feel like Fridays. By the time the middle of the week rolls around, you've spent more time in your office than you ever thought possible. You wake up on Wednesday morning and think, "Surely it's Friday by now."

Have you ever felt this way?

Maybe you're working two jobs, and the stress of early mornings, late nights, and constant travel has worn you down. Maybe you feel your current position doesn't suit you. After years of searching for something better, you've come up empty. Or maybe you work for a boss who feels impossible to appease. You long for a supervisor who acknowledges—or even notices—your hard work.

Each of these situations highlights a discouraging truth: work can be hard. It can be draining. And it can quickly wear you down. In times like these, I often turn to Psalm 16:8, which reads: “I am always aware of the Lord's presence; he is near, and nothing can shake me” (GNTD).

If you feel distressed and worn out today, I encourage you to open your Bible and meditate on messages of peace, hope and comfort. These six Bible verses will get you started:

  1. Matthew 11:28 (GNTD)
Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest.
  2. Psalm 23:1-2 (GNTD)
The Lord is my shepherd; I have everything I need. He lets me rest in fields of green grass and leads me to quiet pools of fresh water.
  3. 1 Peter 5:7 (GNTD)
Leave all your worries with him, because he cares for you.
  4. Psalm 62:7 (GNTD)
My salvation and honor depend on God; he is my strong protector; he is my shelter.
  5. Romans 15:13 (GNTD)
May God, the source of hope, fill you with all joy and peace by means of your faith in him, so that your hope will continue to grow by the power of the Holy Spirit.
  6. 2 Corinthians 4:9 (GNTD)
We are often troubled, but not crushed; sometimes in doubt, but never in despair; there are many enemies, but we are never without a friend; and though badly hurt at times, we are not destroyed.
