When life hits us hard, we're bound to feel disappointed and discouraged. Maybe you lost your job, and you can't pay your rent.
Maybe you've tried to salvage a relationship, but it's broken beyond repair. Or a loved one with cancer went through treatment only to find that more chemo is needed.
At these times, our hearts feel heavy. We look to the future, and we feel fearful and afraid.
It's for moments like these that we've compiled the following Scripture verses to encourage and support you. Read them, and remember that God is always with you, no matter the circumstances.
- "Be brave and strong! Don't be afraid … The Lord your God will always be at your side and he will never abandon you."
Deuteronomy 31:6 (CEV) - "The Lord himself will lead you and be with you. He will not fail you or abandon you, so do not lose courage or be afraid."
Deuteronomy 31:8 (GNTD) - "Don't be afraid. I am with you. Don't tremble with fear. I am your God. I will make you strong as I protect you with my arm and give you victories."
Isaiah 41:10 (CEV) - "If you are tired from carrying heavy burdens, come to me and I will give you rest. Take the yoke I give you. Put it on your shoulders and learn from me. I am gentle and humble, and you will find rest. This yoke is easy to bear, and this burden is light."
Matthew 11: 28-30 (CEV) - "God will bless you people who are poor. … God will bless you hungry people. You will have plenty to eat! God will bless you people who are crying. You will laugh!"
Luke 6:20-21 (CEV) - "I give you peace, the kind of peace that only I can give. It isn't like the peace that this world can give. So don't be worried or afraid."
John 14:27 (CEV) - "Don't worry about anything. … God will bless you with peace that no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel."
Philippians 4:6-7 (CEV)
