Know that feeling? The one that indicates what’s next should happen in slow motion? You know life is going to change. And you know there’s going to be a new normal.
This happened to me, and even though I’m not through it yet, I know that God is in control.
For me, it was a job change I wasn’t prepared for. Without warning, all I had worked for and toward in my job was gone. I endured days where I was in a haze and couldn’t get out of it because of how it all happened. I felt angry, frustrated and just plain hurt.
Lately, I have looked for jobs in newspapers and online, and have connected with friends and friends of friends. But I’ve had no luck finding a fulfilling position. I’ve been praying, as have others, for God to help me understand how he could use me in new ways, so that I’m on to embracing a new normal.
I’m still adjusting to the latest change, and I still don’t know what God has planned. But in all of this, I’ve chosen to remain faithful because God is the only one who will never change. Our God is a loving God who always desires to have us grow closer to him and trust him in all things.
If you’re not sure that God is with you as you navigate change and find a new normal, you can turn to God’s word to hear him speak to you. These four Bible verses will get you started:
Isaiah 41:10 (CEVD)
Don’t be afraid. I am with you. Don’t tremble with fear. I am your God. I will make you strong, as I protect you with my arm and give you victories.
Romans 8:18 (GNTD)
I consider that what we suffer at this present time cannot be compared at all with the glory that is going to be revealed to us.
Psalm 34:18 (GNTD)
The LORD is near to those who are discouraged; he saves those who have lost all hope.
Psalm 147:3 (GNTD)
He heals the broken-hearted and bandages their wounds.
