Anxiety has a way of lingering in the background of everyday life. Sometimes it feels overbearing. Other times it feels manageable. But whenever it's there, it prevents us from feeling confident, rested and at peace.

If you're anything like me, this process can feel draining. I often expend so much energy trying to conquer my anxiety that I barely have the stamina to focus on the demands of my day. Tired and anxious, I want nothing more than a comfortable couch and a good magazine. Can you relate?

Maybe the pit in your stomach has stuck around for days. You've tried everything in your power to make it go away—walks, naps, books, happy music playlists, longer workouts. You've even met with a counselor. But nothing has helped.

To make matters worse, your anxiety has started to keep you up late and wake you up early. You're exhausted. You're discouraged. And, despite your best efforts, you're stuck feeling as anxious as ever before.

In these moments, you can turn to God's Word, meditating on reminders of his presence with us. These six Bible verses will get you started:

Isaiah 12:2 (GNTD)

God is my savior; I will trust him and not be afraid. The Lord gives me power and strength; he is my savior.

John 14:27 (GNTD)

"Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid.

Isaiah 26:3 (GNTD)

You, Lord, give perfect peace to those who keep their purpose firm and put their trust in you.

John 16:33

I have told you this so that you will have peace by being united to me. The world will make you suffer. But be brave! I have defeated the world!"

Jeremiah 31:25-26 (GNTD)

I will refresh those who are weary and will satisfy with food everyone who is weak from hunger. So then, people will say, ‘I went to sleep and woke up refreshed.'

Matthew 11:28 (GNTD)

Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest.
