Psychiatrist Michael Lyles talks about David and the book of Psalms, the place where he often pours out his pain.

But before these Psalms were set to music, they were seen by the chief musician - the person who put David’s pain in a different context, namely music, and who enabled him to see a different perspective, namely God’s perspective.

The church needs more chief musicians, says Dr. Lyles. These are people who will walk with those in pain, who will listen to other people’s stories and not brush aside their problems with platitudes.

We are all called to be chief musicians for each other.
