Worry. It can be a heavy burden that so many people feel they must carry alone. Do you have more bills than paycheck? Are the kids struggling? Is someone you love facing a medical challenge?

Well, you’re definitely not alone. The American Psychological Association says the top sources of stress in the U.S. include money, work, the economy, family responsibilities, relationships, family health problems and personal health concerns.

Jesus clearly recognizes that your life is full of trouble and strife. Yet, despite all of the earthly worries you carry, God’s Word and promise of salvation can provide encouragement and hope.

Here are a few lines from Scripture where Jesus talks about worldly struggles and the saving power of faith:

1. “So do not worry about tomorrow; it will have enough worries of its own. There is no need to add to the troubles each day brings.” Matthew 6.34 (GNTD)

2. “The world will make you suffer. But be brave! I have defeated the world!” John 16.31 (GNTD)

3. “Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11.28 (GNTD)

4. “Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid.” John 14.27 (GNTD)

5. “Life is much more important than food, and the body much more important than clothes...Can any of you live a bit longer by worrying about it?” Luke 12.23 (GNTD)
