Sometimes life feels like a never-ending hike. As you make your way up the mountain, you search for something dramatic: a scenic view, a vibrant sunset, a place of solitude. But hikes can be exhausting. Steep inclines slow you down. Rock fields get in your way. Rain showers force you to stop and find cover.
But then you experience the joy and fulfillment of reaching the summit. And you can’t help but pause and soak in the moment. You made it.
Are you climbing your own mountain today?
Maybe you recently caught your teenage son experimenting with alcohol. You punished him, explained your concerns and even empowered mentors to come beside him. But he simply thinks you’re getting in the way of his fun. Your mountain looks increasingly steep—and you’re ready to turn around.
Or maybe you’ve been unemployed for almost a year. Desperate for a steady income, you’ve started to pursue jobs you’re overqualified for. You still don’t have any leads. As the rain pours down on your job search, you wonder if it’s even worth climbing the mountain at all.
Have you been here before?
If your summit feels beyond reach today, you can turn to God’s Word for hope, peace and perseverance. And you can seek him for the strength to find joy and fulfillment. These five Bible verses will get you started:
- Isaiah 41:10 (GNTD)
Do not be afraid—I am with you! I am your God—let nothing terrify you! I will make you strong and help you; I will protect you and save you. - 2 Corinthians 12:9 (GNTD)
But his answer was: “My grace is all you need, for my power is greatest when you are weak.” I am most happy, then, to be proud of my weaknesses, in order to feel the protection of Christ's power over me. - Philippians 4:13 (GNTD)
I have the strength to face all conditions by the power that Christ gives me. - Psalm 59:16 (GNTD)
But I will sing about your strength; every morning I will sing aloud of your constant love. You have been a refuge for me, a shelter in my time of trouble. - Habakkuk 3:19 (GNTD)
The Sovereign Lord gives me strength. He makes me sure-footed as a deer and keeps me safe on the mountains.
