Last week I got a sneak peek of one of the largest collections of Bibles and biblical artifacts in the world. The Verbum Domini II: God’s Word Goes Out to the Nations held at Paul VI Audience Hall in Vatican City featured everything from fragments of the Dead Sea Scrolls to a microform Bible that astronauts took to the moon in 1971 (see the photo gallery below).

Cardinals, ambassadors, journalists, TV news teams, and even a prince and princess from Germany gathered for the April 1 preview of the exhibit.

“This exhibit shows the breadth of interest in God’s Word,” Cary Summers, chief operating officer of the Museum of the Bible, said. “It shows the sacrifices many have made to take it out to the world. It is a celebration of the victory of God’s Word and what it’s done throughout the world.”

Verbum Domini II: God’s Word Goes Out to the Nations will remain at Vatican City until June 22. You can see photos of some of the artifacts in the exhibit in the photo gallery below.
