I was feeling restless and ready for a change when we drove past the "For Sale" sign, beckoning us to our next adventure.

Within a few months, my husband and I were bed & breakfast owners. We had a lovely new home and enjoyed working hard to make it a wonderful get-away spot. And with each reservation, we made new friends. But we struggled with finances and we couldn't seem to fix it. So, in just over a year, we put up our own "For Sale" sign and moved on. We felt like failures.

Have you ever felt like a failure? Maybe you've tried something big and failed. Or maybe you are your own worst critic in the small day-to-day stuff.

When we closed our bed & breakfast, we felt shock and blame and embarrassment. Our family and friends tried to support us by saying things like, At least you tried. But we were no longer innkeepers—so what were we now? Failed innkeepers? It felt almost impossible to move on.

As the months passed, however, our burden was lifted and we realized that God's faithfulness is bigger than any of our failures. As we went through Scripture together, we saw that God was calling us to forget the past and move forward.

If feelings of failure have threatened to take over your life, you can also turn to God's Word. Lean on him for comfort and strength as you meditate on these 5 verses:

1 Peter 5:7 (GNT)

Leave all your worries with him, because he cares for you.

2 Corinthians 12:9a (GNT)

But his [the Lord's] answer was: 'My grace is all you need, for my power is greatest when you are weak.'

Romans 8:28 (GNT)

We know that in all things God works for good with those who love him, those whom he has called according to his purpose

Lamentations 3:22-23 (GNT)

The Lord's unfailing love and mercy still continue, fresh as the morning, as sure as the sunrise.

Philippians 1:6 (GNT)

And so I am sure that God, who began this good work in you, will carry it on until it is finished on the Day of Christ Jesus.
