As you begin reading this, perhaps you’re overwhelmed with a sense of urgency. Maybe you feel guilty for taking time out of your busy schedule to read a blog.
But you’re desperate for relief from it all.
Knots in your stomach.
Clenched jaw.
Tightened muscles in your back, neck, everywhere.
Racing thoughts.
The calendar fills up, the tasks pile up, and you have no idea how you’ll ever get to a place where you finally feel at peace.
The Bible tells us that even when our life is crazy, God is stable, a foundation of calm (Psalm 18:1-3). If you feel out of control, you can find security in God’s love for you. Your calendar might get more and more crowded, but it’s important to take time to bring your worries to Jesus.
Only have a few moments? That’s okay. Just take a minute to tell God what you’re worried about today. After that, pray through these 5 short psalms of peace with me:
God, give me strength.
The Lord gives strength to his people
and blesses them with peace. — Psalm 29:11, GNTD
Lord, keep me safe in all the chaos.
When I lie down, I go to sleep in peace;
you alone, O Lord, keep me perfectly safe. — Psalm 4:8, GNTD
God, help me see your goodness in all this.
Be confident, my heart,
because the Lord has been good to me. — Psalm 116:7, GNTD
Lord, remind me that you protect me.
I depend on God alone;
I put my hope in him.
He alone protects and saves me;
he is my defender,
and I shall never be defeated. — Psalm 62:5-8, GNTD
God, help me to be content in you. Amen.
Instead, I am content and at peace.
As a child lies quietly in its mother's arms,
so my heart is quiet within me. — Psalm 131:2, GNTD
