Sometimes money feels elusive, doesn’t it?

One minute your bank account looks stable. You have the money you need to pay the bills and even invest in a charitable cause. But suddenly, everything changes. A gift for your spouse’s birthday, a new set of tires for your car, a phone bill with unexpected charges—almost overnight, you’re staring at a near-empty bank account and an overblown budget.

Have you been here before?

Maybe you had the best intentions of meeting your budget this month, but didn’t want to disappoint your family. Faced with a decision between overspending in your “entertainment” budget and celebrating your son’s first high school concert, you chose the latter—and now you’re worried about paying the cable bill.

Or maybe, after carefully managing your finances for years, everything has come crashing down. Your house needs a new hot water tank, your insurance premiums are about to increase and your daughter has decided to move back home. Can you afford all of these expenses at once?

In these moments, when money causes you to feel anxious, tense, stressed and overwhelmed, you can turn to God’s Word for encouragement. These six Bible verses will get you started:

  1. Psalm 94:19 (GNTD)
Whenever I am anxious and worried, you comfort me and make me glad.
  2. Philippians 4:6 (GNTD)
Don't worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart.
  3. 1 Peter 5:7 (GNTD)
Leave all your worries with him, because he cares for you.
  4. Matthew 6:34 (GNTD)
So do not worry about tomorrow; it will have enough worries of its own. There is no need to add to the troubles each day brings.
  5. Deuteronomy 31:8 (GNTD)
The Lord himself will lead you and be with you. He will not fail you or abandon you, so do not lose courage or be afraid.
  6. Philippians 4:19 (GNTD)
And with all his abundant wealth through Christ Jesus, my God will supply all your needs.
