For my first unofficial job, I charged a whopping $12 to mow lawns in my neighborhood. At first, I wanted to experience the responsibility of running my own business. But quickly, this excitement evolved into something different: if I didn't mow lawns, I wouldn't be able to buy all the things I wanted to buy—music, baseball jerseys, video games.

When I reflect on this period of my life, I realize how much I envy my childhood self. Money meant having fun. It didn't mean paying my phone bill, or car payment, or monthly rent or any other bill. And it certainly didn't mean paying for everyday necessities like food and electricity.

As they say, those were the days. Now, it's much easier to associate money with stress than fun. Can you relate?

By the time you pay your mortgage, shop for groceries, repair the leak on your roof, replace your worn-out work shoes and pay for your kids' weekly activities, your checking account is next to empty. You've tried everything in your power to reduce your spending. But your finances still overwhelm you. And your family still doesn't have the financial flexibility it needs.

If the stress of managing your finances is weighing you down today, I encourage you to open your Bible and mediate on God's words of peace, love and hope. These four Bible verses will get you started:

Proverbs 3:5-6 (GNTD)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know. Remember the Lord in everything you do, and he will show you the right way.

Luke 12:24 (GNTD)

"Look at the crows: they don't plant seeds or gather a harvest; they don't have storage rooms or barns; God feeds them! You are worth so much more than birds!"

Philippians 4:6-7

Don't worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart. And God's peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus.

Psalm 16:8 (GNTD)

I am always aware of the Lord's presence; he is near, and nothing can shake me.
